Arlington Presbyterian Church was originally planted by Pastor Ed Bertalan in early 1985. The first worship service was held at Ditto Elementary School on May 19, 1985. In 1986, the church relocated to 150-seat building it leased at 1320 W. Pioneer Parkway. The church grew until it was able to purchase the building and the 2.4 acres on which it sat on July 15, 1992. At that same time, the Church entered into an expansion/remodeling program which enlarged the auditorium to a capacity of 220 seats. Two modular buildings were also purchased to provide additional administrative and educational space. In 1993, the Church purchased and additional 6.8 acres of land adjacent to the Church property. Several years later, the main building was modified once more, increasing the capacity to 250 seats. In order to accommodate continuing growth, the Church entered into another expansion/remodeling project during the summer and fall of 1997. New "wings" were added to the auditorium and the parking capacity was increased.
In 2003, the Church began construction which included a new sanctuary with a seating capacity of 460, nursery facilities, church offices, a sacristy/workroom, and a conference room. The first service held in the new sanctuary was on June 20, 2004.
Arlington, Texas, has a population of approximately 333,969, with the surrounding Tarrant County area having an estimated population of 1,446,219. The Church is located near the University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington Memorial Hospital, and the Parks Mall. Major employers in the area include General Motors, Ameriquest Field, home of the Texas Rangers, Six Flags over Texas, and the future home of the Dallas Cowboys.
